Domaine Guy Bocard
Meursault | Côte de Beaune | BurgundyBuilding on more than 100 years of winemaking know-how in the golden village of Meursault, Domaine Guy Bocard is a family estate reinvented. Winemaker Guy Bocard retired in 2018 and sold his domaine; the new, dynamic team at the helm benefits both from an inspired group of investors and serious consulting talent.
The winery’s 14 acres in Meursault are farmed organically. Winemaker René Mora has been with Bocard for nearly two decades, having first worked for Oliver Lamy at Domaine Hubert Lamy in Saint-Aubin. His wines are profoundly layered and wonderfully complex, true Meursault that is a joy to savor.
FARMING & WINEMAKING
The estate tends some 24 acres in Meursault and Auxey-Duresses, including some well-regarded villages and premier cru plots. Vines are cared for according to organic principles, but the estate is not yet certified.
Winemaking is essentially traditional and as non-interventionist as possible. Grapes are harvested by hand in small crates and are gently pressed full cluster; juice is fermented on indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels, and then aged in the same barrels. The estate uses no more than 10% to 15% new oak each vintage, and mostly on wines that are a blend of multiple vineyards. Sulfites are used sparingly, and mostly at bottling; wines are unfined and unfiltered.
Bourgogne Côte d’Or Chardonnay
A lively and luscious Burgundian Chardonnay farmed organically within the commune boundaries of Meursault — golden and perfect, with plenty of nutty nuance and lemony intensity. A seriously overachieving, anything-but-“basic” Bourgogne.

Meursault Vieilles Vignes
A selection of older-vine fruit from three different Meursault vineyards, for a complete, succulent look at the true character of this historic (and irresistible) white Burgundy village. Lemon curd and crushed stones, warm spice and soul.

Meursault 'Narvaux'
One of Meursault’s best villages-level vineyards, ‘Narvaux’ is nervy and curvy at once, with lots of energy underneath all that succulent yellow fruit. A delight when young and fresh but this bottle will go the distance, too.

Meursault 'Limozin'
A serious insider’s villages-level find and a wine that comes with some serious neighbors, too; ‘Limozin’ sits cozy next to two outstanding premier crus, ‘Genevrières’ et ‘Charmes-Dessous.’ Another overachieving bottle and a wine that with its depth and complexity, probably should be a premier cru!

Meursault 1er Cru ‘Les Charmes’
Bocard’s older vines in ‘Charmes’ sit in the upper portion of this larger premier cru vineyard, arguably the better, more limestone-rich part; which means more definition and stony energy in each sip, more complexity and inspiration in aroma. Vines here are 60 years old or older; a treasure for the cellar and a wine that will certainly charm until the very last drop.
